Steroid Injections

Steroid injections are a non-surgical way to decrease back and joint pain. Image guidance allows the medication to be injected precisely where you need it to treat your symptoms. The interventional radiologists perform steroid injections for pain, in the back, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle and foot. The injection often takes less than 15 minutes, but the pain relief can last for months.

Preparation

These injections are quick and performed using very thin needles and you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area.

You should arrange to have someone take you home after having a lumbar steroid injection procedure.

Fasting is not required – No aspirin or blood thinners to be taken 5 days prior to the procedure.
